ICE Release Paths from Coshocton
No dedicated ICE detention center or standing county ICE contract was confirmed in Coshocton County. The Facility Map treats ICE as a possible downstream custody path. The Justice Center serves local and some federal needs, but that broad statement does not prove that ICE held a particular person or that the county houses people under a continuing ICE agreement.
An immigration detainer asks a local jail to notify ICE and requests continued custody for up to forty-eight hours beyond the time the person would otherwise be released, excluding certain timing rules described by the agency. ICE says the request does not decide the underlying bond or parole question. If ICE assumes custody, the local booking ends through transfer. If it does not act within the applicable period, local authority may release according to law.
A Coshocton County release record can close at the jail while ICE custody begins. Confirm both events before stating that the person entered the community.
The clearest sequence is: ordinary county release eligibility, ICE notification or request, the limited requested hold, then either ICE assumption of custody or local release when the legal basis ends. Each step belongs to a different record.
Search ICE Release Records
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System, or ODLS, supports two search routes. Use the A-number when known. It must contain nine digits, so a shorter recorded number may need leading zeroes. The biographical route requires exact recorded name information and country of birth. Spelling, order, and accents can affect a result.
- Obtain the person's exact name, country of birth, and A-number from a reliable record when available.
- Pad the A-number to nine digits with leading zeroes if needed, then run the number search.
- If no number is known, enter the precise biographical information used by ICE records.
- Compare every displayed identifier before treating the result as the same person.
- Record the access date and current or recent custody wording.
- If no result appears, request the Sheriff's destination field and use ICE contact or record channels rather than declaring release.
ODLS excludes people under eighteen from the public search. ICE also describes it as covering qualifying current custody and people released from ICE custody within the preceding sixty days. It is therefore a short-window locator, not a permanent release archive.
ICE Release Result Limits
A positive ODLS result can support current or recent ICE custody information within the system's coverage. It does not establish the full Coshocton booking history, the county release reason, or the legal basis for the immigration case. The Sheriff's record and county court docket remain the sources for the local episode.
A negative result has several possible causes. More than sixty days may have passed since ICE release. The exact name or country may not match. The person may be under eighteen and excluded. ICE may never have assumed custody, or the data may not yet appear. The same no-result cannot be converted into one conclusion without another record.
| ODLS outcome | Supported reading | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| Current match | ICE or qualifying CBP custody is represented. | Confirm identity and facility details. |
| Recent-release match | ICE reports release within its stated window. | Obtain the underlying ICE record and later status. |
| No match | No public result under the submitted data. | Try exact identifiers and verify the county destination. |
| Older episode | May fall outside public recent-release coverage. | Use records channels instead of ODLS alone. |
| Minor | Not included in public ODLS. | Use authorized agency and legal channels. |
Confirm Coshocton ICE Transfers
The county Scheduled Releases PDF may show a tentative date and additional bond or authority information, but it does not provide a completed ICE-transfer record. A person can disappear from the current roster because another authority took custody. The Sheriff's booking and release record is the best local request for actual county processing time, release type, and recorded destination or receiving agency.
- Identify the exact Coshocton booking by name, date, jacket number, and booking number.
- Read the controlling Municipal or Common Pleas docket for the local legal event.
- Ask the Records Bureau for the actual release date and time, type or authority, and destination or receiving agency.
- If ICE is named, search ODLS with the A-number or exact biography.
- Preserve both agency records because the county end and ICE beginning are separate events.
The county-wide Coshocton County release-record path explains how the schedule, roster, VINE, dockets, and receiving-agency record fit together.
ICE Release Records Contacts
The Sheriff's Records Bureau is the local contact for the existing Coshocton booking and release record. It accepts email, telephone, fax, and in-person requests. The office can clarify a request, but Ohio law does not generally require a requester to identify themselves, disclose an intended use, or submit the request in writing. Ask for electronic PDF delivery and specify the fields needed.

ODLS coverage explanation
Immigration detainer explanation
An ICE records inquiry should identify the person, A-number, dates, and the exact existing custody or release record sought. Public locator coverage and formal agency records are different access channels. A locator result is faster, while a record request can address older or more specific events subject to applicable limits.
ICE Detainer Release Timing
The local schedule is uploaded once daily, and later court paperwork waits for the next report. A scheduled date can coexist with another hold. The report forecasts county administration; it cannot predict whether ICE will assume custody or exactly when a federal transport will occur. Jail staff also say they do not provide release information by telephone, though the confined person may receive a release call.
An immigration detainer is not a criminal sentence. It is an agency request tied to possible transfer. The underlying county bond or release decision comes from the proper local authority. The requested additional hold has a stated limit, and ICE must assume custody through its own process. Describe the county and immigration phases separately to avoid implying that ICE changed the local court's order.
Note: A tentative county release time and the start of ICE custody can be different recorded moments.
ICE and VINE Release Alerts
Ohio VINELink can report a custody change from a participating county agency. A Coshocton VINE release event means the Justice Center reporting episode ended. VINE does not prove ICE received the person, and an ODLS result does not replace the local release record. Use the VINE event as one link in the chain.
Coshocton's documented telephone VINE route uses 1-800-770-0192, one or two reachable phone numbers, and a four-digit PIN. Entering the PIN acknowledges a notification call. Messages and further calls may continue for up to twenty-four hours until acknowledgement, and calls may arrive late at night. Registration should occur while the correct person remains available in the feed.
If the event indicates release but the court or schedule showed a federal hold, check the destination immediately. A transfer can look like a release within the sending agency's alert even though custody continues elsewhere.
ICE, BOP, and USMS Boundaries
ICE ODLS is not the BOP inmate locator. BOP covers federal prisoners, generally from 1982 forward, and can display a facility, projected date, or released label. USMS controls many federal pretrial movements but offers no comparable public historical release locator. ICE covers qualifying civil immigration custody through its own system.
| System | Use it for | Do not infer |
|---|---|---|
| Coshocton Sheriff | County booking closure and recorded destination | Later ICE or federal release |
| VINE | Participating agency custody-change notice | Legal reason or next custodian |
| ICE ODLS | Qualifying current and limited recent ICE custody | All historical immigration episodes |
| BOP locator | Federal prison custody and BOP release | ICE custody or an uncommitted pretrial case |
| Federal docket | Detention, release, dismissal, sentence, supervision | Minute-by-minute physical processing |
When more than one system appears, keep the sequence. County jail release, federal transport, BOP release, and ICE release can be separate events on different dates.
Older ICE Release Records
The ODLS sixty-day recent-release description makes it unsuitable as a permanent archive. For an older Coshocton episode, start with the Sheriff's actual destination field and the court docket. If ICE assumed custody, use the A-number and a focused agency records inquiry. A current no-result adds no proof about an old event.
Record exact labels instead of paraphrasing them too broadly. “Released from ICE custody” ends that agency's custody, but another court order, supervision duty, or custodian may still matter. “Released from county jail” may mean ICE transfer. The evidence should state which agency ended which episode.
Identity also requires care. A-number, full recorded name, country of birth, and date context are stronger than a name alone. Never publish a conclusion from a near-match. When a field is uncertain, preserve the source wording and ask the originating agency to correct its own record.
